On Wednesday, August 30, 2017, Carlisle J. Atkins was called to his heavenly home. He was born July 4, 1949, in Roanoke, Va. to Frances and Sam Morgan of Pittsylvania County, Va. He attended Northside High, and then he joined the US Army, serving for 3 years, and receiving a purple heart for his bravery in Vietnam. He was an active member and deacon at Hackberry Baptist Church. He leaves behind two children, Carlos Atkins (Felita) of Danville, Va. and Camille Atkins of Altavista, Va.; a devoted former wife, Dorothy Atkins of Altavista; five grandchildren, Alexa Joyce, Keyonia Hunt, Astin Calloway, Nahla Atkins, and Carlos Atkins. He also leaves behind a special friend Carol Turner and her son, Terrence, along with a lot of friends and family. We thank you for your prayers and well wishes. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel with Dr. Hubert Pannell officiating. She was born May 18, 1931.Surviving are a son, William "Bill" Troutman of Englewood, Fla.; a daughter, Kathy (Barry) Clark of Ellabell; three grandchildren, Jeremy Clark, Jonothan Clark and Barrie Sanders; a great-grandson, William Clark; and a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Magaro of Enola.Thomas C. KIMMEYRobert Eugene "Magic Mike" Kimmey, 60, of Landisburg died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.He was born July 3, 1957, in Harrisburg to the late Glenn M. Sr. and Betty F. (Snyder) Kimmey.He was very active in the Eshcol Brethren in Christ Church and its youth group; a 1976 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School; and enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycles.Surviving are his wife, Sally M. (DeWitt) Kimmey; children, Nicholas G. Musti and companion Craig Whitman of Lancaster, Levi D. Kimmey, Jeremiah D. Kimmey and Gabriel D. Kimmey, all of Landisburg; siblings, David Thomas and wife Pat of Palmyra, Glenda Herring and companion Brion of York Haven, Anita Decker and husband Jason of Lewisberry, Glenn Kimmey III and wife Crystal of Camp Hill; his wife's family, Merlin, companion of the late Cynthia Lyon, of York Haven, David DeWitt and companion Kate of New Cumberland, Jack Dewitt and wife Sandra of York Haven, best friend Mark Reese and wife Robbyn and goddaughter Aubree Reese of Harrisburg.He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thomas.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, in Landisburg Fire Hall, 301 Faculty Drive, with pastor Andy Meister officiating. Visitation and fellowship will follow the service in the fire hall.
